First time I had a transgender model today at the Art Students League. There was nothing extraordinary about her, but I did find she was difficult to draw, I wonder if it’s because she had some odd proportions because she was born a male?
It’s Free Thursdays at the Montclair Art Museum again! They had a great new exhibit, Kara Walker: Virginia’s Lynch Mob and other works as well as an exhibition looking at Identity in America. We have a returning model in some great outfits for the open-sketch studio, and one of the little girls, Tessa in attendance posed for us too!
Same model as yesterday, really great poses again, but couldn’t capture a lot of them quite as well as yesterday’s session. Last pose she was upside-down, so it was kind of weird drawing her like that and trying to get a likeness. Experimented with some shapes for her face, but it didn’t end up as a good likeness either.
